MUSIC LESSONS ARE JUST THE BEGINNING

At So i Heard Music, we believe becoming a musician isn’t just about learning an instrument — it’s about finding your voice as an artist.

That’s where the So i Heard Music Artist Development program comes in.

Typically starting around age 12, Artist Development is a customized combination of private lessons and recording sessions designed to take students from learners to creators. Each week, students sharpen their instrumental skills and spend time writing, recording, and producing their own original music — with professional guidance every step of the way.

Unlike standard music production lessons, these recording sessions focus on developing the student as an artist. Students work closely with our professional producers to shape their sound, refine their songs, and bring their creative ideas to life.

By the end of each semester, Artist Development students leave with a portfolio of original songs — a real accomplishment they can be proud of.

If your student dreams of writing, recording, and releasing their own music, the Artist Development Program is the perfect next step.

Previous Projects

Xanthe Miller

Xanthe, a Millburn High School graduate and now a Music and Economics major at Bates College, studied guitar and bass at So i Heard from 2018–2021.

Encouraged by her instructors, she attended Berklee’s Summer Songwriting Workshop, where she wrote her first acoustic piece, “Flying/Falling”. With our help, she recorded the track as part of her college application—and got accepted into her dream school as a music major.

Xanthe now sings alto in the Carnegie Hall Choir in Residence and leads the alto section in the Bates College choir.

NGHBRS

So i Heard Music produced a live music video for NGHBRS, a professional rock band from Long Island.

Austin Boockvar

Austin started as a piano student but wanted to take it further. Through the Artist Development Program, he took songwriting lessons and booked music production sessions. With Austin’s piano and vocal ideas as the base, he worked side-by-side with our professional producer to create a polished, full-length track.

Millie D.

Millie, a vocal student from Millburn, took her talent to the next level by writing and producing her own original rock-pop song. After weekly songwriting lessons and studio sessions, she walked away with a radio-ready anthem—complete with powerhouse vocals and epic guitar lines.

Robby Aronson

Robby joined us one summer looking for a creative challenge. With a combination of songwriting and piano lessons, he crafted a deeply personal song that we helped bring to life in the studio. The result? A powerful track with a message that sticks.
