Learn to play in a band with your friends!
Our Band Camp is perfect for kids who want to rock out with their friends. We’ll learn to play tunes from some of the greatest bands of the last 40 years. Our skilled band directors will put together an awesome setlist of fun songs for our campers to learn, with the ultimate goal of performing for a virtual audience at the end of the week. Playing in a band can help foster a love for music that most of our students didn’t even know they had! To join our Band Camp please have at least one year of private lesson experience on any instrument.
Our Band Camp is available in three age groups: Ages 8-10, and Ages 11-13, and Ages 14-17. Campers do not need to be enrolled in private lessons at the time of the camp and do not need to be So i Heard Music students.
Camps are one week long M-F and operate from 9 am to 12 pm unless otherwise noted.
WHAT A TYPICAL DAY LOOKS LIKE:
- 9:00 am – Song Analysis
Students will learn the structure of the songs they plan to learn. Students will learn how to analyze song structures based on their favorite pop hits.
- 10:00 am – Individual Practice
Students will be given individual parts to practice on their instrument based on the song analysis from earlier in the day. The band director will be there to help each student learn their parts as they practice individually.
- 11:00 am – Group Band Practice
Building on what they learned earlier in the morning, campers will get together and learn the songs as a group. Group skill-building is very important!
At the end of the week, campers will perform via live stream in their band room or on the stage in Gillette, depending on the location of the camp.
