MUSIC PRODUCTION BOOTCAMP AT SO i HEARD
Following in the footsteps of legendary musicians, producers, and songwriters of the past, we discover a path we can travel on that leads to creative freedom through music production. This journey starts with a decision to believe in ourselves and work to reach our goals, together we will learn the tools and techniques our favorite artists used to get the songs out of their heads and stuck in ours.
Our boot camp is available to all experience levels. Boot campers do not need to be enrolled in private lessons and do not need to be So i Heard Music students.
Camps are one week long and operate from 9 am to 12 pm unless otherwise noted.
Depending on the group, a typical day might include these activities:
9:00 am – Composition
The day starts with an hour of discovering rhythm, melody, harmony, and lyrics together through free expression. No prior music education is required, in fact, it’s probably best we forget everything we’ve learned about music so we can fall in love all over again.
10:00 am – Arrangement
After we have our song ideas we then spend an hour expanding on those ideas like a tree from a seed. Depending on the music the day brings us we will choose instruments and structure the song ideas until it feels right. Through collaboration and technology, prior instrument experience is not necessary.
11:00 am – Engineering
The final hour will be spent recording the song and refining the finished product. Making everything sound perfect is not the goal, our focus during this hour is making sure everything feels right. If you’ve ever heard a song and said “that’s good,” then we have everything we need to finish our own songs.
By the end of the week, we will have composed, arranged, and engineered a few original songs that we can share with our friends, family, and future fans to hear. We will be able to repeat the process whenever we want in our own unique way!
