A New Program at So i Heard
At So i Heard Music, we’ve always believed that learning music should be inspiring, collaborative, and—most of all—fun. Over the years, we’ve had countless conversations with parents asking the same thing: “Can my child be part of a group?”
While we’ve offered a version of the Performers Program in the past, limited band slots, scheduling difficulties, and a-la-carte added costs have kept many students from participating. That’s about to change.
Starting this July, we’re excited to launch a brand-new structure for students ages 8 and up: the Performers Program at So i Heard Music. This will now become the recommended core experience for most students ages 8 and up.
What is the Performers Program?
The Performers Program combines two powerful elements of music education:
- Weekly 30-minute private lesson focused on technique, progress, and personalized goals
- Weekly open band class, where students join peers to play songs, build confidence, and collaborate in a real band setting
- More frequent group performances at outside venues, and our facility, in addition to our yearly recital
This hybrid format brings students the best of both worlds—and, now, it’s built to be more convenient and accessible for every family.
What’s New? One Trip. Lower Group Pricing.
To make participation simple, we’ve added open group slots to nearly every hour of every day during peak hours. That means your child will likely be able to take their private lesson and band class during a single visit each week—no additional scheduling headaches or extra trips.
Classes are now mixed age, eliminating the need to find specific time slots that work for a select group of students.
Class sections are 1-hour blocks held throughout the day; students can pick a band slot before or after their lesson, or on another day altogether; whatever works! This new program is meant to be flexible and fun for all.
Each group will work from a shared song library of pop and rock songs so students can come in prepared and ready to play.
Groups are open to all ages 8–17; we feel it is important for students to experience playing with musicians of various skill levels. Beginner students can learn from more advanced students, leading to a collaborative music community.
Best of all, the new program is only a $60 add-on for the extra hour every week!

Why We’re Adding This Option
Music is meant to be shared. Just like when learning a new language or playing a sport, students who participate in groups tend to stay more engaged, grow faster, and develop a deeper love for music. This new model reflects what we’ve always believed: the best music education happens when students learn independently and together. After all, what fun would soccer be without other players?
Music is also a team sport!
We’re so excited to launch this next chapter and can’t wait to see your kids thrive as musicians, performers, and bandmates.
If you have any questions or want to talk more about the right fit for your student, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thanks for being part of the So i Heard Music family!
